The Spritz is an aperitif cocktail famous all over the world. However, the precise name would be Aperol Spritz, which has been codified since 2011 as Italian Spritz or Venetian Spritz. The ingredients are very easy to find: Prosecco, Aperol, and Soda.
But like all traditional recipes, the Italian Spritz recipe also boasts many variations. What I will show you today is the Spritz recipe with very little sugar, perfect for those who follow a ketogenic diet or in any case with a low dose of carbohydrates.
This is my favorite keto drink because it’s actually very easy to make it at home, and it is a perfect aperitif cocktail.
The Ingredients for Red Wine Blueberry Spritz Cocktail Recipe
If you are craving something cold and refreshing, but can’t eat too much sugar, here it is! Replace some ingredients in a classic Italian Spritz and you will fall in love with this low-carb cocktail! To make this cocktail, you will need:
- Frozen blueberries
- Ice cubes
- Dry red wine – You can replace the dry red wine with a low-sugar non-alcoholic red wine for a non-alcoholic version of this Spritz cocktail
- Cranberry juice – Choose cranberry juice without added sugar
- Sparkling water, unflavored
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Can I use Fresh Blueberries?
Yes, you can still enjoy the red wine blueberry Spritz by substituting it with fresh blueberries. The choice of frozen blueberries is because you can always have them available in your freezer and moreover they give even more freshness to your cocktail.
You can also experiment with different berries: cranberries, strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries.
How to Make the Red Wine Blueberry Spritz Cocktail
The Blueberries – Divide the frozen blueberries between 4 cocktail glasses. Lightly mash them with a wooden spoon.
Ice Cubes – Fill glasses with ice cubes.
Wine and cranberry juice – Pour 60 ml of red wine into each glass, and add a tablespoon of cranberry juice.
Sparkling water – Top up glasses with sparkling water.
Serve – Stir well. In this step, you can use a cocktail spoon or a classic spoon. Serve immediately with a few fresh mint leaves for garnishing.

Ingredients
- 24 frozen blueberries
- Ice cubes as needed
- 240 ml dry red wine
- 400 ml sparkling water
- 4 tablespoons cranberry juice without adding sugar
- Fresh mint leaves for decoration
Instructions
- Divide the frozen blueberries between 4 cocktail glasses. Lightly mash them with a wooden spoon.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour 60 ml of red wine into each glass, and add a tablespoon of cranberry juice.
- Top up glasses with sparkling water.
- Stir well. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and enjoy!
