For Custard
- 80 g 00 flour or all-purpose flour
- 200 g granulated sugar
- 4-5 egg yolks about 100 g
- 500 ml milk
- Whole or grated lemon zest
- A pinch of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Peach Custard Dessert
- 4 ripe peaches
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons water
- 16 Italian Amaretto Cookies
Prepare a rich and aromatic custard by following the instructions for Neapolitan pastry cream.
Transfer into a bowl, cover, and allow to cool completely.
Remove the skin from peaches and chop them into small pieces.
Place the peaches in a saucepan with sugar and water, simmering over low heat for 10 minutes until tender with a thick, slightly darkened syrup forming.
Drain peaches in a sieve to collect the juice.
Combine the peach juice with 8-12 crushed Amaretto cookies for a creamy mixture.
In 4 dessert glass bowls, layer the trifle as follows: a layer of Amaretti, followed by peaches, then custard. Repeat this sequence, ending with custard and sprinkling crumbled Amaretto cookies atop each glass.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight before serving.
