Turin Bicerin recipe, a historical Italian drink based on coffee and hot chocolate
The original recipe for Turin Bicerin is kept secret, but you can try making it at home with a few simple ingredients: dark chocolate, coffee, milk, sugar, and whipped cream.

- 100 ml espresso coffee ⅓ cup plus 1 tbsp
- 100 g dark chocolate 75% 3½ oz
- 20 ml milk 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 50 ml whipping cream 3 tbsp plus 1 tsp
- Cinnamon chocolate chips, or coffee beans for garnish
Prepare espresso coffee in your favorite coffee maker.
Make whipped cream by whipping cream with an electric mixer.
Melt chocolate with milk and sugar in a saucepan, stirring constantly over low heat.
Divide the hot chocolate cream into 4 small glasses.
Add a layer of hot coffee.
Finish with a layer of whipped cream.
Garnish with cinnamon, chocolate drops, or coffee beans, and serve immediately.
NOTE – Never stir the ingredients of your Bicerin! The secret to enjoying real Bicerin to the fullest is to not mix it up, allowing the different ingredients to mix directly on the palate with their different densities, temperatures, and flavors.
